Central CT Chambers of Commerce wins competitive energy efficiency grant to assist area businesses

The Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce has received a $50,000 Community Partnership Initiative grant from the Sponsors of Energize Connecticut℠, Eversource and Avangrid, Inc. subsidiaries United Illuminating, Southern Connecticut Gas and Connecticut Natural Gas, it was announced in a release from the local organization.

“One of the questions we are often asked by our members is ‘how can we be more efficient; how can we reduce our overhead?'” said Katie D’Agostino, president and CEO of the Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce, which serves businesses in Bristol, Burlington, Farmington, Plainville, Plymouth and Wolcott, in the release announcing the award.

“We’re excited to be able to enter into this partnership and help as many as possible know how to take the first steps toward lowering their energy bills and producing some real financial savings,” D’Agostino said.

The grant supports Central Connecticut Chambers staff and associates in its work with community members, stakeholders, small business owners, business groups and organizations by promoting and increasing participation in the Companies’ Small Business Energy Advantage program in the communities that they serve toward achieving energy efficiency goals and a green economy.

In an effort to make energy efficiency affordable and accessible to all, the Community Partnership Initiative grants enable local community groups, nonprofit organizations and municipalities to further energy efficiency adoption and educate residents and businesses on the energy efficiency solutions available to them.

This is the second round of funding the program has awarded. In 2022, the Community Partnership Initiative supported efforts in Bethel, Branford, Hamden, Middletown, New London, Waterbury, West Hartford, and Wilton.

All TBE readers, supporters and donors

The Bristol Edition will be limiting the number of stories non-members and free readers may access each week. This decision is based on our financial projections and, most certainly, to remind people that TBE is serious about providing accurate, timely and thorough reporting for Bristol. To do this we have devised a financial support structure that makes unlimited access extremely affordable, beginning with a $6 monthly donation.

  • Non-members will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Free readers and people who have subscribed by email will be able to access four (4) articles per week.
  • Donors and financial supporters will have unlimited access as long as they log in.

Note: Donors may have to contact TBE if they find they are being limited, since we will need to set up a membership account for you. Email editor@bristoledition.org for instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience. People with financial difficulties may write editor@bristoledition.org to be considered for free access.
