Dorsey J. Laprise, 84, of Bristol, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Bristol Hospital surrounded by his family. Dorsey was born on May 11, 1939 in St. Jacques, Quebec, Canada and was the son of the late William and Beatrice (Houde) Laprise.
Dorsey came to Bristol early on in his life and settled in Bristol where he became a talented carpenter retiring from Architectural Building Systems of Hartford. He loved the outdoors. You could find him always walking his dogs, listening to country music and fiddle players, restoring tractors and watching old cowboy movies on the television. Dorsey was also a parishioner of St. Ann Church in Bristol. But most of all, he was a true family man. Spending time with family whether going to his native Quebec for family reunions, visiting his sister in Maryland or being with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was happiest being with them.
Dorsey is survived by his companion of 34 years, Dolly Pierce, his children; Lynn Dionne and her husband Danny, Richard Laprise of Bristol, Gary Laprise and his wife Gert of Burlington, Dale Laprise and his wife Roxanne of Bristol. He also leaves behind his grandchildren; Jennifer, Tina, Renee, Kayla, Stephanie, Audrey, Andrew, Madison, William, four great-granddaughters, one great-grandson and his extended family, Darlene, Zach, Ashley and her family. Dorsey is also survived by his two sisters; Williete Hammond of Maryland and Ginette Laprise of Canada and his former wife Carmen Laprise of Bristol. He was predeceased by four brothers; Rejean, Patrick, Jacques and Jean-Yves and by three sisters; Doris Aldieri, Lise Begin and Francoise Poirier.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 at 9:00 AM from Funk Funeral Home 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol to St. Ann Church 215 West St. Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 between 5 and 8 PM at the Funk Funeral Home.
