Charlene E. (Fusco) Damiano, 79, lifelong resident of Bristol, loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 5, 2024 at Ingraham Manor with her daughter by her side.
Charlene was born on August 26, 1944 in Anson, ME and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Olive Mae (Nichols) Fusco. She was raised in a loving family with her parents and nine siblings. She graduated from Bristol Central High School in 1962 and retired from Shaw’s Supermarkets after 40 years. Charlene was a devout catholic and was a parishioner of St. Matthew’s Church. She volunteered at St. Matthew’s Church, St. Matthew’s School and the Plainville Senior Center. Charlene liked to travel, including a beautiful trip to Ireland with her mother and sisters, and multiple trips to Disney with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and friends. She was a big fan of the UConn Women’s Basketball Team and enjoyed trips to the Final Four. Charlene loved to play golf, watch movies and listen to music. She loved spending time with her family at Water’s Edge in Westbrook. She enjoyed playing cards and sharing laughter with her dear friends. Her grandchildren meant the world to her and she was their world too. She loved going to all of their school events and watching them grow. She was the best Mom and Grandmother “Nonni”.
Charlene is survived by her daughter Dena Mae Morelli and her husband Daniel and her two grandchildren Daniel Jr. and Erica Mae all of Bristol. She is also survived by her five brothers; Joseph Fusco and his wife Donna of Bristol, Andrew Fusco of Terryville, James Fusco of Cape Cod, MA, Michael Fusco and his wife Faith of Barkhamsted, and Thomas Fusco and his wife Patti of Barkhamsted. Charlene also leaves her two sisters Mary-Alice Wilbanks and her husband Curtis of Terryville and Gwendolyn Sakowski and her husband Lee also of Terryville, many nieces and nephews and her former husband Anthony Damiano of Bristol. She was pre-deceased by her two brothers, Carroll and Gregory Fusco and by two sisters-in-law, Jean Fusco and Susan Fusco.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 9:00 AM from Funk Funeral Home 35 Bellevue Avenue, Bristol to St. Matthew Church, 120 Church Ave. Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours for Charlene will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024 between 4 and 7 PM at the Funk Funeral Home.
